Muliaage Palace:
Though, when the Sultan was overthrown in May 1936, Muleeaage palace of Maldivesas was officially declared as the government's property. Placed almost opposite of the Old Friday Mosque, Maldives Muliaage palace was built in the year 1906. It was before World War I that the Sultan built this palace for his son.The credit for its construction goes to the Sultan Mohamed Shamsuddeen III.In 1953, when the Maldives became a republic, Muliaage palace became the President's Official Residence. It was later in the year 1986 that it was renamed the Presidential Palace. In the recent times, this colonial style building served as the office of president, where official meetings were held.
HP Reef:
This year-round dive site features soft corals of different colours and gorgonians or sea whips. With dives of up to 10 to 40 metres deep, the reef is great for spotting various reef fish, manta rays, dog tooth tunas and other marine life.The dive site is often described as Rainbow Reef, because of its array of colours. HP Reef is a great dive site with sometimes strong currents which will require you to employ surface balloons or buoys. Not one meant for the faint-hearted, HP Reef is great for those looking to explore the underwater world.
Fishhead:
It is a coral hill (Thila) lying on a sandy bottom at 40 meters, with the top of this hill measuring to 8 to 12 metres beneath the surface. Mushimasmingili Reef also knows as Fish Head is protected by the Maldivian government. No anchoring, no fishing, no collecting of shells or coral allowed. Arguably one of the world’s best dive spots, Fish Head is situated in North Ari Atoll and offers divers the opportunity to see a large school of grey reef sharks, along with other marine life like fusiliers, large Napoleons and hungry barracuda. This dive site also features stunning caves, black corals and undersea rock formations.

Hulhumale Mosque:
This exquisitely designed mosque is located at the borders of the reclaimed island of Hulhumale. The mosque has a massive golden dome that is supported by trusses and its unique design is what sets it apart from other traditional places of worship of Islamic people.Built in the year 2006, the mosque can accommodate over 900 worshippers at one time!8 Manta Point One of the best experiences for divers coming to the Maldives is to be able to snorkel or scuba dive with Manta rays. Weighing up to 5,000 pounds and with a wingspan of 25 feet, these species can be found in large numbers in Manta Point.One of the best places to find them is at one of the many manta ray cleaning stations, where the mantas gather to have the plankton removed by smaller fish.

Male, the capital city of Maldives has several markets selling souvenirs like miniatures of boats and mats, brooms and slippers made out of palm and coconut leaves. When in the market don’t forget to try some of their fresh coconut milk.Other things to pick up while shopping in the Maldives include wooden flower vases, decorations made out of seashells and lacquer ware. Also make sure you head to the market with the local currency, as most of the locals are not familiar with exchange rates of other currencies.
